Aaron Abernathy is a soul pianist and singer, as well as a very versatile artist. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Abernathy is descended from a long tradition of historical pioneers including the civil rights activist Reverend Raplh David Abernathy, and studied music alongside the great rhythm’n’blues musician Gerald Levert.
Like Donny Hathaway and Roberta Flack, he studied music at the prestigious Howard University, where he improved his pianist skills by graduating on jazz piano. With exceptional talent both as a pianist and vocally, he has acted as music director on global tours of Black Milk and Slum Village, and has collaborated with various Grammy-nominated artists such as Jack White, The Foreign Exchange, and Eric Roberson.
In 2009, Abernathy transferred his talent and experience as a music director to underground hip-hop heavyweight Black Milk, opening up new horizons for him as an opening act on an entire tour. In fall 2016 Abernathy released his solo album, which received rave reviews from Pitchfork, Bandcamp Daily, Soultracks, and Saint Heron.
Already with several albums in his career, AB’s career begins to have an already international name, because without a doubt we are facing one of the new talents of soul/funk worldwide.
